Retained by Mekong Project Development Facility (MPDF) an IFC initiative, as consultant to assist in evaluation of projects involving especially funding to SMEs. Specific projects handled for a period of 150 days in 2000 were in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam |
- Model water distribution unit under private sector in Cambodia, to be replicated in various cities and towns of the country
- Demining workshop to handle the need for demining equipment in Cambodia
- Expansion and relocation of 2 pharmaceutical units in Cambodia
- Establishment of an Information Technology Centre catering to instruction, hardware maintenance and software development in Cambodia
- Relaying a large plastic injection and blow moulding factory in Vietnam
- Expansion and relocation of a motorcycle parts production unit in Vietnam
- A stainless steel slitting mill in Vietnam
Retained by MPDF as a short term consultant for a period of 8 months spread over 2001. Basic role during this tenure was to -
- Carry out Need Assessment studies for extending support to SMEs. I carried out 26 studies during this assignment.
- Identify and recommend the areas, types and the extent to which assistance should be offered to various SMEs seeking assistance from MPDF
- Prepare the business design for an ERP Project to be developed, specially suited to SMEs (see )
- Preparing the draft High level design for an integrated package for Project tracking and control – suitable to link up all the PDFs managed by SME department of IFC
Retained as short term Consultant by MPDF for a period of 6 months (March - Sep 2002). Work handled includes
- Assistance in preparing the Need Assessment Reports (NARs) recommending the areas, types and extent of support to be offered to various SMEs applying to MPDF. NARs were prepared for 16 companies in the SME sector across Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos)
- Preparation of the business design for the Production and Costing modules of the ERP software MPDF is developing

Projects handled in Bangladesh (current assignment)
- Carried out the sector study for the Software / IT industry in Bangla desh with a view to assess the needs of their sector from Technical and Financial points of view. This diagnostic study was the basis for the intervention of Southasia Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF), part of the World Bank group
